How to Choose the Best Luxury Apartment Location

Are you looking to enjoy the higher-end of apartment life? Do you want to avoid the cost of renting/owning a home, but still ensure a desirable experience for yourself? If so, then you need to invest in a luxury apartment right away.

The key to finding the right spot is the apartment location. Taking a little time to focus on it will help you double down on finding a safe, thriving area for you and your family to rent from.

See below for an in-depth guide on how to find the best apartment location as you begin your apartment search. You'll be glad you did!

1. Laundry Options

There is a common misconception that people have when they begin apartment hunting. They will actually elect to find an apartment location without a washer and dryer, as they feel it will help them save money off of the rent. But is it really?

Let's take all of the different factors into consideration. First, if the washer and dryer aren't included in your apartment amenities, then where is the nearest laundromat? Does the complex have one? Is the in-complex laundromat close to the available units?

Statistics show that the average cost per load at a laundromat is around $5.21. How many loads do you go through regularly? Those same statistics would show that you go through around 8 loads a week when you factor in towels, clothes, etc.

With eight loads every week, you're looking at a price of around $41 each week. That's $160 a month at minimum. That comes to a total of $1,920 spent at the laundromat each year.

Here's our recommendation: find an apartment with a washer and dryer inside. If you're looking for a true luxury apartment, then a laundry unit has to be high on your priority list.

2. Consider Your Commute and/or Remote Work Space

The times are a-changin'. The 2020 quarantine forced every business in America to answer a question they'd had on their minds for a while: "Would our workers really be productive from home?"

Perhaps your company works in an industry that requires you to report to the facility each day. Maybe you've taken a position that allows you to now be 100-percent remote. Perhaps your position offers some mixture of the two.

Whatever the case might be, your working situation should play a heavy factor in the luxury apartment that you start renting.

If you report to work at least part of the time, then you'll want to consider your commute to work. How much time would you be spending (collectively) driving to and from work each day? If you're actively looking for other jobs during your apartment hunting, then consider the commute to the area you're hoping to find a new job in.

Also, if you work remotely even part of the time, you'll want to make sure you're setting yourself up for success at home. Find a suburban apartment that has a great space for an at-home office in its floor plan. This could either be a full room or just an area of a bedroom or your living room. Whatever fits your preference!

Here's another trick: consider the traffic flow during commute hours. Log on to your GPS during your current morning commute and check the directions from the apartment you're considering to your job. That way, you can see the traffic in real-time.

3. Consider the Crime Rate

Here's the problem with an oasis: there's never anything to do outside of the small paradise you've created for yourself. That's the problem with people investing in luxury apartments in a rough part of town.

Make sure that you're considering the neighborhood in your decision. Go online and check the crime rates, take a drive around to see if you feel safe, and gather your surroundings.

Once you have a firm idea of the area around the complex, you'll have more confidence when you go to place your deposit.

4. What Amenities Are at the Location?

When it comes to apartment hunting, there's one thing you should always keep in mind: convenience. The fewer things you have to go outside of your complex for (and spend money on), the better.

That's why it's always a tremendous idea to look into both the community amenities and apartment amenities of the luxury apartment complex you're considering.

Her at Park Fountains at Preston Hollow, we offer such community features as a community pool, business center, dog spa & wash for Fido, a free weight gym, and a 24-hour emergency maintenance program.

5. Proximity to Shopping

So many people are focused on finding an up-and-coming spot with a lot of new builds and upcoming city improvement projects to find their next luxury apartment.

But here's one thing to consider about those spots: they may not have necessary stores, such as your grocery store, completed for the next two years. That means that, for the next two years, you'll be driving 35 minutes to the closest one. Is it worth it?

Take the time to consider the shops around the apartment you're considering. The last thing you want is to cut out more time from your weekend to spending time in a car.
